Head of School
Ms. Martha joined the Rock Prairie Montessori School staff in 1998 and has been teaching since 1987. She is currently the Head of School at Rock Prairie Montessori School. She received her American Montessori Society preprimary certification from Seattle University, certification in Montessori Applied to Children at Risk from Southern Methodist University, and a Wisconsin Early Childhood Administrators Certificate and Inclusion Certificate. Ms. Martha was appointed a trustee of the McHenry County Conservation District in Illinois and is a frequent Montessori conference presenter and teacher trainer. She and her husband share a love of nature and have two grown children who attended Montessori schools and three grandchildren.

Director of Operations
Ms. Robyn joined the Rock Prairie Montessori School staff in 2003. As Director of Operations she is responsible for all areas of finance, maintenance, human resources and benefits for RPMS. Ms. Robyn also has a passion for music and a love of children. This enthusiasm combined with her experience and education provides a unique opportunity for RPMS students in that private lessons are available at school. Ms. Robyn holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance with a Piano Minor from Illinois Wesleyan University, is certified in Kindermusik and is currently the only certified Speech Level Singing Instructor in the Midwest. She also provides private voice and piano lessons at Knapton Musik Knotes and out of her home. Ms. Robyn and her husband Jim are the proud parents of two boys that are RPMS graduates. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, exercise and spending quiet time with her family.

Director of Development & Planning
Melissa joined Rock Prairie Montessori School in 2016 after working for over a decade as the Communications Coordinator for the School District of Beloit. She has also served as President of the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association, several boards in Beloit and looks forward to now serving the families and staff of the RPMS community. She and her husband enjoy watching their son play hockey. In her spare time outside of the rink, she also enjoys reading and tackling crossword puzzles.

Amber Grefsheim has been with Rock Prairie since 2013. She has a deep passion for helping others and truly adores the RPMS community. Amber has an Administrative degree and a Fitness Nutritional Specialist degree. In her free time, she and her husband love to travel and be outdoors with their two dogs as much as possible.

Montessori Beginnings Instructor
Tracey joined the Toddlers’ House and Montessori Beginning teaching team in February of 2010. She is the Toddlers’ House and Montessori Beginnings Coordinator and a lead teacher. Tracey leads Parent Education at RPMS and is a Montessori teacher trainer for both the Houston Montessori Center and the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. Tracey has a B.A. in Psychology, an AMS infant and toddler Montessori certification, and is currently a fellow in the University of Wisconsin- Madison’s Infant, Early Childhood and Family Mental Health Capstone Certificate program. For fun, Tracey spends time with her husband and four sons, knits and reads.

Ms. Stacy joined Rock Prairie in 2013 as an assistant in the Toddlers' House Program and a Montessori Enrichment teacher for Children's House. She is currently a lead teacher in Toddlers' House and the Creative Movement teacher. Ms. Stacy earned her bachelors in 'Studies in Education' from Edgewood College in2010. After graduating she was a nanny and then went on to teach at a preschool in Deforest, WI. In her free time she enjoys being outside, going for walks, and spending time with her husband and two sons.

Ms. Mary joined the Rock Prairie Montessori School staff in 2001. She currently is a Children’s House lead teacher as well as the afternoon Kindergarten teacher. Along with her teaching responsibilities Ms. Mary is the Children’s House Coordinator in which she oversees Children’s House curriculum guidelines and provides support as needed for all Children’s House students, parents, and staff. Since 2008 Ms. Mary has planned, organized, and supervised the RPMS Summer School Program. This successful program offers a wide variety of themed camps for all age groups. Camps provide activity based learning opportunities for students from the RPMS and children throughout our community. Ms. Mary received her Montessori Certification from Montessori Education Centers Associated, in 2006. She earned her Wisconsin Early Childhood I and II Certification from Blackhawk Technical College in 2002. Ms. Mary participated in Wilson Language Training Workshops to assist with enhancing and expanding the language curriculum at RPMS. She is also in the process of receiving an Inclusion Credential. This certification is designed to provide strategies, knowledge, and resources to support children of all abilities in our school community. Ms. Mary and her husband have three adult children. Outside of school she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Children's House Teacher
Ms. Monica is the Lead Teacher in the Mayapple Children's House classroom where she enjoys a front row seat to the children's joy of discovery and growth. She first joined Rock Prairie Montessori School in 2002 as a Substitute Assistant Teacher. This led to experiences as an Assistant Teacher in both Children's House and Extended Day programs and eventual completion of her Montessori Pre-Primary Certification in 2012 from the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. Prior to working in education, Ms. Monica worked for 10 years in Human Resources. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Management. Her free time is spent with her husband and three children (all former Rock Prairie students) in their various extra curricular activities and traveling whenever possible.

Children's House Teacher
Ms. Ellen joined Rock Prairie Montessori School in 2009 as an assistant in our Children’s House Program. She currently is one of our Toddlers' House Lead Teachers, our Spanish Teacher and Montessori Beginnings Instructor. Ms. Ellen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Drake University where she traveled to and lived in several Central and South American countries. Ms. Ellen also interned for the Center for Global Education in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She joins us after running her own Wisconsin-licensed, bilingual, home daycare for three years and completing coursework in Early Childhood. Prior to this, Ms. Ellen taught Spanish for four years at Keith Country Day School in Rockford, Illinois to Kindergarten through 12th grade students. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, exercise, being outdoors and spending time with her husband and two sons.

Lower Elementary Teacher
Ms. Kris joined the Rock Prairie Montessori staff in 2003. Ms. Kris received her Elementary I Certification from Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in 2009. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Secondary Education; with a Broadfield Social Studies Major, and History Minor. She taught civics and geography at FJ Turner High School in Beloit for eight years. Ms. Kris attended Wilson Language Training Workshops to assist with enhancing and expanding the language curriculum at RPMS. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their children who are all alumni of Rock Prairie Montessori School.

Upper Elementary Teacher
Ms.Sadie is the lead teacher for Upper Elementary. She enjoys her classroom, students, and the community feel of RPMS. She started her Montessori journey years ago as a primary assistant, while pursuing her elementary teaching license, and went on to serve as a lower elementary lead in a Montessori public school. Ms.Sadie has a bachelor's degree in Art from the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s in Education from Concordia University. When not teaching she enjoys yoga, hiking, biking, travelling (6 continents down!), foreign languages, coffee, cooking and art. Her favorite animals are invertebrates, bats, cats, and snakes, in no particular order. Ms.Sadie lives in Madison with her partner and a seriously cranky Serbian cat.

Bonnie Sue White
Kindergarten Music Teacher
Ms. Bonnie Sue joined the Rock Prairie Montessori Staff in 2007. She and her husband relocated to Wisconsin from Central Illinois to assume the position of Elementary Lead Teacher. Bonnie Sue received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from SIU-E and taught for a couple of years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. While raising four children, she continued working with children outside her family through church, neighborhood, and school volunteering. She formally reentered the field of education when her youngest child began school. She taught for ten years in a Christian school, one year of social studies in a public middle school, and another ten years in a public Montessori school. Ms. Bonnie Sue holds Montessori Certification in Early Childhood (3-6), Elementary I (6-9) and Elementary II (9-12) from Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center. In recent years Ms. Bonnie Sue has been able to fulfill her desire to use her early childhood training by including Children's House and Montessori Enrichment classes while still continuing to work in Elementary half time. She has been invited to and presented at several Montessori conferences in the states as well as Canada. She and her husband, Mr. Rich, enjoy bike riding, traveling to various conference sites, and spending time with their 4 children's families including 10 grandchildren.
Reading Specialist - Kindergarten and Elementary
Ms. Michelle will be working with elementary students in Reading Groups in the mornings, and assisting with Kindergarten students with Ms. Mary in the afternoons. She has a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in EBD and Special Education from UW-Stevens Point. Her classroom experiences include grades 1, 3, and 4 in regular education as well as K-5 Special Education, in both public and parochial school settings. Ms. Michelle is the mom of two teenagers, has two cats, and a husband at home. In her spare time she enjoys creating a multitude of craft projects, gardening, and spending time laughing with her family.
