A GROWING COMMUNITY

Rock Prairie Montessori is a non-profit school that began in September 1994 through the efforts of several parents seeking an alternative education for their children.  Rock Prairie Montessori’s program purpose is to operate a child centered school for children in accordance with the Montessori Method to encourage the development of every child to his or her maximum potential and to aid parents/guardians in the education of the child by involving them in the school. Originally a preschool, the school has added a toddler class (18-23 months), elementary programming and middle school through 8th grade.

MISSION

We create a peaceful, nurturing Montessori environment in partnership with families and our larger community, where children grow in lifelong purpose through curiosity and meaningful exploration.

VISION STATEMENT

Our Rock Prairie community offers an authentic Montessori education, supporting children in reaching their full potential by fostering independence, responsibility, and confidence. Students develop a lifelong love of learning, rooted in respect for one’s self, their school community, and the environment. Through caring relationships, peaceful leadership is instilled within our children as they become engaged global citizens.

OPERATIONS

The day-to-day operations of the school are managed a Leadership Team that includes the Head of School, Director of Education and Operations, Director of Finance and Office Manager. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of parents, community members, and the Head of School. Parents also serve on various committees to assist with the planning of social events and fundraisers. Children and their families from throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, as well as teachers and staff, comprise the Rock Prairie Montessori School community.

Rock Prairie Montessori offers a Montessori Beginnings Program for parents/caregivers and their child age birth to 18 months, a Toddlers’ House Program for children ages 18 months to three years, a Children’s House Program for children ages three to six, an Elementary Program for grades first through sixth, and a Middle School Program for grades 7 through 8.
